The prices of meat, poultry and fish increased by 20% during the past two days because of high feed prices , and experts expect prices to continue to increase during the month of Ramadan exceeding 40%, and they asked the government to import meat from abroad.

Poultry prices are high in Egypt due to the very high price for corn and soymeal -- the two major items in poultry feed. World poultry prices are also at record high levels due to this. While their may be a saving to buyers in Egypt through the control of price gouging the effect on the Egypt poultry industry could be very bad.
